Urbanity Campus Tachov received the prestigious Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic Award, presented as part of the Plzeň Region’s Building of the Year competition
The Urbanity real estate group has received another award for its exceptional industrial architecture and the innovative
revitalisation of a brownfield. On September 12, the GAMA building in Urbanity Campus Tachov was awarded the prestigious Ministry
of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic Award, which was accepted at the awards ceremony by Markéta Šimáčková, the COO and
Deputy CEO, and Roland Hofman, the Co-Founder and CEO of Urbanity.
A total of 34 buildings were entered into this year’s Plzeň Region’s Building of the Year competition, with 18 of them
nominated for an award. In the category of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic Award, the jury decided
to award Urbanity for the construction of the architecturally intriguing and user-friendly production hall GAMMA in Tachov.
“Winning this award is a great confirmation and recognition of our efforts to create high-quality and sustainable industrial
campuses. We are also pleased that the jury appreciated the architectural and sustainable aspect that contributes to the development
of the region and positively affects the quality of life of the local residents,” stated Roland Hofman, the Co-Founder
& CEO of Urbanity.
The jury appreciated the quality design of the façade of the new hall, including the office facilities, which goes beyond
the current trends of industrial buildings. These are usually characterised by façades without architecture, designed primarily
expediently using surface panels. The GAMA hall, on the contrary, has a grand design and material-oriented façade. The jury
was also interested in the modern technical solutions including the rooftop photovoltaics, battery storage, intelligent control
and regulatory system and smart LED lighting. The campus received plus points for the concept of the surrounding area, with an
abundance of greenery and relaxation zones.
“I think that today the people from Tachov can be proud and I am glad that the campus in Tachov received this award.
We would like to thank all those who were involved with us in the implementation of this project. With their help, we were
able to create a truly modern and innovative campus in Tachov,” added Markéta Šimáčková, the COO of Urbanity.
The Plzeň Region’s Building of the Year competition is held under the auspices of the Governor of the Plzeň Region and
the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic. The Plzeň Region has been handing out the awards since 2009. The
aim of the competition is to acquaint the general public with the level of construction and architecture in the Plzeň Region
and to support high-quality comprehensive construction from the architectural conception to the final craftsmanship.
Urbanity Campus Tachov represents a new generation of industrial sites that comprehensively use brownfield areas. It has
become the first complex in the Czech Republic to receive the prestigious BREEAM Communities certification for sustainable
parts of cities and public spaces with the highest rating in Central and Eastern Europe.
The Tachov Campus is an architecturally impressive and user-friendly production hall built with an emphasis on the application
of modern technologies and the use of ecological elements, while meeting all strict technical aspects. This campus is an integral
part of the city because it provides services not only to its employees, but also to local communities. There is, for example,
a company doctor available here, along with relaxation zones and a children's group, which significantly supports the preschool
education of children from local families.
URBANITY is a real estate group that focuses on premium commercial real estate. Its goal is to build next-generation industrial
campuses, where added value is created by an environment significantly oriented to the needs and comfort of their users. The
concept of “Made by Urbanity” projects meets the individual requirements of modern employers, and especially their employees,
as well as the requirements for the ecological and energy sustainability of their own operations. The comprehensive urban
solutions of the projects implemented by Urbanity Group, which is part of the M.L. Moran investment group founded in 1996,
are unique on the Czech market and represent the future of refinement of industrial sites and brownfields for the 21st century.
